Test Accommodations

Secondary education, graduate schools and professional certifications typically require standardized testing.  These testing agencies, are required under the Americans with Disabilities Act (“ADA”) to provide reasonable accommodations to test takers with disabilities.  The ADA requires that these tests must be offered in a manner that makes the test accessible to persons with disabilities.  These accommodations include, but are not limited to extended time, additional or extended breaks, a quiet testing environment, a reader or audio version of the examination and use of assistive technology.  A disability is defined as an impairment that substantially limits a major life activity such as reading, learning, studying or working.  Accommodations are available for both physical and cognitive disabilities such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity/Disorder (ADD/ADHD), learning disability or Obsessisive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).

We have assisted many individuals with disabilities obtain reasonable accommodation on examinations such as the MCATs, LSATs, GMATs, SATs, USMLE, state Bar Examinations, and Medical Board examinations.  We have with success, counseled and prepared effective accommodations requests, submitted appeals and reconsiderations of denials of accommodation requests and filed and pursued litigation on behalf of individuals who have been wrongfully denied reasonable accommodations.
